oi! It's only been 5 months since a blog update, which means I didn't tell you about a lot of really cool events that were going on like NYE at Andy Poolhall or the Annual Holiday Shaker in Stratford... But there is no reason in reminding you about things you can't do, so I'll just throw out some things you should know about that are still upcoming. 

Friday February 8th - 
Funkin' It Up! will be at No One Writes to the Colonel, bringing the feel good vibes to No One Writes to the Colonel as Skank Honto and Splattermonkey do every second Friday of the month. Funky beats from over 5 decades in every genre and every tempo. 

Friday February 22nd - 
cirQlar & Electro Swing Club Toronto present The Lost Fingers! 
I'm lucky enough to be on the bill and will be bringing and extra swingin' mix of ghetto funk, party jams, and dancefloor bangers to the masses at Revival on College Street in Toronto.

A Funk Filled August

August is always a busy time in the djing world for me, but this year is especially exciting.

It starts Friday August 10th as Funkin' It Up returns for another round at No One Writes to the Colonel! Then, myself and Splattermonkey will be rocking out Insomnia Lounge on Friday August 17th, where we will be throwing any limitations of sounds and genres out the window.

And then to wrap up August, I'll be opening for the mighty Gramatik on Saturday August 25th at the Keating Channel Pub at cirQlation brought to you by one of Toronto's best promotions company, CirQlar!

Summertime Vibes @ Funkin' It Up!

Hope everyone's summer has been good! Wanted to give a heads up about a special edition of Funkin' It Up taking place next Friday July 13th! While myself and Splattermonkey will be playing our usual mix of classic vs nu-funk, this time we'll be taking an increased focus into the sweet sounds of summer. That means more reggae and island sounds, more upbeat latin fusion, and more feel good groovey shit that we know you'll love.

As always, this is a FREE event!

4:20 lounge extended set at Insomnia

this Friday, I'll be making my return to Insomnia Lounge. When I play these shows alone I get a chance to really play an even wider range of sounds than probably any other venue I play, as I'll be playing everything from trip hop to hip hop to nu funk to breaks to house to electro to dnb and a few places in between along the way.

I played 2 shows with the Funk Hunters this month. We also had another blast of a time at No One Writes to the Colonel for Funkin' It Up. You missed it. okay, so I forgot to mention that I was going to be playing Insomnia Lounge last Friday.

so this Saturday August 27th I'll be heading to cottage country, to play Bayfield Ontario!

I'll be djing at the Black Dog all night playing a mix of funky beats and dope remixes of all sounds. its a great little bar on Main Street in Bayfield with a nice selection of beers on tap and I hear the food is quite awesome too.

then next Friday September 2nd I'm back in Toronto as I'll be playing the first official Funkin' It Up event at No One Writes to the Colonel. I'll be doing this one solo, and moving forward will be working with DJ Splattermonkey!

August Awesomeness w/ Myagi

A massive thank you to all who made it to one of the previous Breakers Revenge events at Tota Lounge so far. We've got one more event in the tank for the summer, and we're taking it to Grotto Lounge in Little Italy on Friday August 19th!

July Events

a couple of awesome events over the next few weeks, and the best part for you is that they are both FREE!

first off, Canada Day is next Friday and I'm excited to be dropping a mix of summertime funky beats on the patio of the Keating Channel Pub! Bounce throws awesome events there every year and this year will have San Francisco's DJ Mes as well as a slew of great Toronto house dj's. Its a great patio on a waterfront area and to be by water outdoors on Canada Day sounds just right to me. check here for all the details.

then on Saturday July 9th marks the Round 2 of Breakers Revenge.

I forgot to blog about the first event but it was a really good night out and this event looks to be a great follow up as we've got 6 dope dj's who play breaks but aren't afraid to step outside the boundaries into other genres and sounds in the progress. it's also a FREE event and goes down at the always fun Tota Lounge on Queen Street West at Bathurst.

Toronto this weekend, Cambridge Arts Fest in June

so a couple quick things to note... as mentioned in the previous post, I will be djing at Insomnia Lounge in Toronto this Friday May 20th. it will be an extended set of all things funky, hitting every tempo probably a few times over. get the details, mark your attendance.

also just a quick heads up of an interesting event a couple weeks out... on Saturday June 4th I'll be playing the Cambridge Arts Fest (http://www.cambridgeartsfestival.com), which is a free outdoor event in Cambridge Ontario, which happens to be my hometown.

I'm on from 3-4pm in the afternoon, playing a mix of summertime funky grooves.

come out and enjoy what seems like a pretty cool event and a good way to get out of the city for an afternoon!

this is one of the most original events I've been a part of in some time.
it's being thrown by the Bassgators in lieu of their 1 year anniversary, and we're talking a crazy original venue, Demolition Man from the UK (you may best remember him for his ragga jungle classic "Fire"), a crazy amount of great Toronto dj's, a fire show, dancing gypsies, body painting, and much more.
